The Fractional CTO will play a pivotal role in steering Spyglaz AI’s technical direction and enabling its AI-powered producer relationship management platform to scale during a crucial fundraising phase in Q1 2025.
Responsibilities include developing and executing the technical roadmap, ensuring platform scalability, security, and reliability, and leading investor engagement by demonstrating technical rigor and innovation.
The CTO will oversee distributed engineering and data science teams, set priorities for AI/ML development, and implement processes to ensure seamless operations.
Working closely with the Founder & CEO, the CTO will manage technical due diligence, build investor confidence, and support the recruitment of a permanent CTO post-fundraising.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight, requiring a dynamic, personable leader who excels in aligning technical excellence with business objectives.
âš¡ Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Leadership:
Serve as the primary technical representative during investor meetings, showcasing platform scalability, AI capabilities, and future vision.
Support technical due diligence by ensuring transparency and articulating the platform’s innovation and potential.
Collaborate with the CEO to present a compelling technical narrative to investors, securing confidence and buy-in.
Technical Strategy & Oversight:
Define and implement a technical roadmap that aligns with business goals and fundraising milestones.
Oversee distributed offshore engineering and data science teams, ensuring alignment with project priorities and milestones.
Focus on platform scalability, AI/ML innovation, security, and reliability to meet the demands of enterprise customers.
Recruitment & Team Building:
Develop a strategy for recruiting and onboarding a full-time CTO after the fundraising round.
Collaborate with leadership to attract top-tier technical talent to scale the engineering team.
Establish robust processes and infrastructure to ensure a seamless leadership transition post-fundraising.
âš¡ Requirements
Experience:
12+ years of technology leadership experience, with expertise in AI, machine learning, and enterprise SaaS platforms.
Proven success in guiding startups during fundraising cycles, including technical presentations and investor engagement.
Demonstrated ability to manage and guide distributed engineering teams.
Skills:
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating technical visions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong understanding of AI/ML capabilities, platform scalability, and SaaS architecture.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with producer-led sales industries such as insurance or financial services.
Previous fractional or interim leadership experience.
Based in or willing to collaborate closely with a San Francisco Bay Area-based team.
